Atlas Building Composites, a company spun out from MIT, is using AI-powered robotics to convert plastic waste into building materials. This technology, developed from MIT's HAUS research, allows for waterless recycling and large-scale 3D printing of construction components. The company has already supplied materials for a bridge project with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Atlas aims to deploy its systems globally, enabling local production and reducing environmental impact by replacing traditional materials with recycled composites.
