The 2026 State of Supply Chain Sustainability Report from MIT’s Sustainable Supply Chain Lab surveyed 1,811 professionals across 91 countries. While 78% of North American organizations use AI for sustainability initiatives, the report finds that 78% of advanced automated warehouses have seen higher energy use since implementation. Only 24% of these facilities use AI-driven real-time monitoring to track environmental consequences. The study highlights a disconnect between corporate commitment and governance, noting that only 51% of companies with sustainability goals have formal cross-functional teams.
