Nvidia has introduced a warm-water cooling system designed to cut water usage in data centers by recirculating coolant in a closed loop. This system could eliminate on-site water consumption, but it doesn't address the water used in electricity generation, which remains a significant factor. Fossil fuel power plants, which supply a large portion of data center energy, are major water consumers. While Nvidia's innovation is a positive development, the overall water footprint of AI data centers is still largely dependent on their energy sources.
